The NeeStream platform is streaming Velukkakka Oppu Kaa, a moving social drama that stars veteran Malayalam actor Indrans.
The film sheds light on how some callous people view their elderly parents as a liability and ignore their needs.
Directed by a newcomer, Ashok R Klatha, Velukkakka Oppu Kaa sees Indrans play 78-year-old Velukkakka, who ekes out a living as a labourer. Velukkakka has a son who has refuses to take care of him.
Indrans, a costume designer-turned-actor, has appeared in over 250 films, playing the comic relief in most of them. The 65-year-old actor will, however, be seen in a serious role in this film.
Velukkakka Oppu Kaa was shot last October in Palakkad. The dialogues and screenplay have been written by Sathyan MA.
The drama, which features Pashanam Shaji, Shebin Baby, Madhu Babu, Naseer Sankranthy, Uma KP, Vizmaya, Athira and Bindu Krishna, has been produced by Merlin K Soman Kuruvilla under the AKJ Films banner.
