The teaser for Birsa Dasgupta’s upcoming psychological thriller Mukhosh invites the audience to explore the dark mindscape of criminals. The official remake of the Malayalam film Anjaam Pathiraa (2020), Mukhosh sees Anirban Bhattacharya, Anirban Chakrabarti and Chandreyee Ghosh playing crucial characters.
The teaser begins with a criminologist, played by Bhattacharya, asking whether a psychologically sick murderer is scarier than one who is mentally stable? His enquiry is accompanied by spine-chilling grey visuals of a deformed corpse, and blood, that are sure to make at least some in the audience uncomfortable.
On the other hand, the police officers investigating the murders believe the killer is planning his murders with the intention of entrapping them. While he wears a symbolic lamb mask to puzzle the police, the traces of the murders committed by him are leaving people in trauma.
Though there are glimpses of Bhattacharya eventually interrogating the criminal, the teaser carefully conceals much of the subplots that help the criminologist learn more about the complex psychological pattern of the criminal.
The grimness of the plot is amplified by the seriousness of the performances as well as the striking background score by Nabarun Bose and the disturbingly graphic visuals.
Mukhosh is slated for a theatrical release on 13 August. Watch the teaser below and let us know if you would be keen to watch this film.
