Mogra Phulaalaa director Shrabani Deodhar to launch production house

Filmmaker Shrabani Deodhar is all set to start a production house of her own. As per a press release, the company, Purple Morning Movies, will focus on content-driven short films, music videos and more.

Deodhar said in the release, “This industry has given me everything: name, fame and success. I am happy and proud to be able to work on such amazing subjects and projects. As an industry 2020 was not the best year, but 2021 looks great.” 

Deodhar has directed quite a few Marathi films since the early 1990s such as Lapandaav (1993), Sarkarnama (1997) and Sata Lota Pan Sagla Khota (2015). She also helmed the Hindi film Silsila Hai Pyar Ka (1999), which starred Karisma Kapoor and Chandrachur Singh, and wrote Pehchaan (2005) later. 

Her last film, Mogra Phulaalaa (2019), which starred her daughter Sai Deodhar with Swwapnil Joshi, received rave reviews. 

Deodhar has also been involved in Marathi television.
