Zeenat Aman to star in murder mystery Margaon: The Closed File

Written and directed by Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, the film is a tribute to Agatha Christie's books.

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman is set to make a comeback on the silver screen with the murder mystery film Margaon: The Closed File. The 69-year-old actress will be playing the head of an Anglo-Indian family who is an independent woman, a mother as well as an entrepreneur.

The actress, who doesn't do many films nowadays, was last seen in a guest role in Ashutosh Gowarikar's historical epic Panipat (2019).

Margaon: The Closed File was written by and will be directed by Kapil Kaustubh Sharma. Talking about Aman's character in the film, Sharma said, "Zeenatji will be seen in a strong role of a woman named Sylvia. It’s a complex and unconventional character with various shades".

He added that the film would be a tribute to mystery writer Agatha Christie's work. “It’s too early to talk much about the project. I have grown up on Agatha Christie’s stories. My original work will be a tribute to her genre.”

The murder mystery, set against a Roman Catholic backdrop, will have an ensemble cast and is expected to go on the floors in March.
