Deepika Padukone reveals what could happen to Piku if there were a sequel

Deepika Padukone, who plays the titular character in Shoojit Sircar’s National Award-winning film Piku (2015), has some ideas concerning her were a sequel to be made.

In an interview with film journalist Rajeev Masand and director Shoojit Sircar on the Audible Suno show Picture Ke Peechhe, Deepika Padukone shared her thoughts on where Piku might end up. “To me, Piku is never one of those girls who would commit and settle down in her life. In the sequel I don’t see her happily married and settled,” Padukone stated.

The actress, who turns 35 today, also elaborated that she sees her character imbibing negative qualities from her late father, Bhashkor Banerjee, played by Amitabh Bachchan, including irritability and wanting to control everything, which would hinder a chance at relationships.

“You become that person,” the actress said. “A lot of Piku was that. While shooting for the movie, I felt all of it was correct and honest.”

Piku, which also starred the late Irrfan Khan, was released on 8 May 2015. Padukone won her second Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance.
