Abhimanyu Dassani, Shirley Setia’s fresh chemistry in Nikamma will surprise all, says Sabbir Khan

The makers of Sabbir Khan’s Nikamma (2021) have shared the first glimpse into the film with a still featuring the lead pair Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia.

The two young lead seem to be having fun on a cycle rickshaw. While Setia is excited on the rider’s seat, Dassani looks a bit concerned as the passenger. 

Nikamma is an action entertainer that was due to be released in June 2020. But like many other films, its shoot got delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team completed filming the movie in November 2020 and the feature is now set to release in this year. 

Khan believes the time is right for a film of such genre. “This year, audiences are hungry for entertainment and Abhimanyu and Shirley with their fresh chemistry will surprise everyone. Abhimanyu won accolades and the Filmfare award for best debut while Shirley is already the sweetheart sensation of the youth,” he said.

Setia is a popular social media celebrity and singer who is quite active online. 

Nikamma marks the comeback of actress Shilpa Shetty whose last Hindi film was Anil Sharma’s Apne (2007). “This new pairing will be interesting to watch out for this year headed by Shilpa Shetty who makes a comeback after 13 years in a dynamic role. I have tried to up the action levels and after Hrithik and Tiger, Abhimanyu will add a new dimension to how action is done,” Khan added.

Produced by Sony Pictures Films India and Sabbir Khan Films, Nikamma is Dassani's second film after Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2019), for which he received rave reviews.
