No matter how you define politics, it is ultimately a race to acquire power. And there is always a chance of this race turning dirty. Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming web-series Tandav is about one such struggle for power.
The show tells the story of Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan), the son of India’s prime minister. One fine day, the PM passes away and the entire world mourns his death. Samar is secretly pleased as he can now take on his father's mantle. Or so he thinks.
His senior party member Anuradha (Dimple Kapadia) knows his dark secret and she threatens to expose him if he doesn’t allow her to become the next PM. But Samar isn’t one to give up on his dreams so easily. He hatches a plot with the support of his man Friday (Sunil Grover).
The word ‘promising’ is written all over the trailer of Tandav, especially if you happen to be interested in politics. Few indirect real-life references are unmissable here. There is also an instance where a cop notes how students from universities are the new ‘terrorists.’ The show is also visually appealing with the rich production design and costumes on full display.
Apart from Khan and Kapadia, who seem perfect in their respective roles, Grover makes his presence felt. Tandav also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kumud Mishra, Kritika Kamra, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Sarah-Jane Dias, Dino Morea and Gauahar Khan.
Directed by Ali Abbas Zadar, Tandav will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 15 January.
