Actresses Raveena Tandon and Amrita Rao helped national-level archer Arjun Yadav purchase equipment by contributing to a fundraiser created by RJ Anmol.
Yadav’s financial situation was badly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic last year. The archer comes from a modest background and his father works as a plumber. The sportsman had reached out to Anmol on Instagram, imploring him to raise funds so that he could fulfil his dreams.
Moved by Yadav’s plight, Anmol started a fundraiser, which went viral. Within three days, the target of Rs3 lakh was reached, with donations from over 130 contributors, including Tandon and Rao.
Sharing his happiness, Yadav said in a statement, “I have always believed that when you want something, the universe conspires to make it happen. This time it was through Anmol sir. I had never thought a fundraiser could help me get the bow and arrow, but I am grateful to Anmol sir and to each contributor for helping me.”
The archer believes he now has to give it back to those who helped him in his time of need. “I feel my responsibility to perform well and to make a name for myself has increased manifold after so many people have shown faith in me. I hope to make them proud with my journey. I will always be indebted to Anmol sir for this,” added Yadav.
Happy with the turn of events, Tandon said, “I am so happy to be associated with this special cause started by RJ Anmol for our national archery champion — Arjun Yadav. As a nation, it's extremely important for each one of us to come forward and support our athletes who bring our country laurels on an international platform. I urge everyone to do their bit and help Arjun prepare himself and represent India at the Asian Games.”
Sharing her reaction, Rao added, “I could see Anmol got genuinely emotional about the irony of a guy named Arjun not having a bow and arrow to fulfil his dream. His campaign was heartfelt and my contribution just a drop in the ocean of generous hearts that poured in solid support from across the globe.”
