Taapsee Pannu has picked up the bat in order to prepare for the Mithali Raj biopic, Shabaash Mithu. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film, which is based on the life of India's foremost batswoman, was announced back in December 2019.

The actress shared a picture of herself at the nets, getting her stance right. In the image, she is keenly watched by Nooshin Al Khadeer, a former female cricketer and close friend of Raj who is training Paanu.

The film was initially scheduled to be released on 5 February but was delayed due to the pandemic. The actress just finished shooting for another biopic, Rashmi Rocket, earlier in the week.

The highest run-getter in women's international cricket, Raj is the only female player to score more than 6,000 One-Day International runs.

In a quote to the Times of India newspaper, Pannu said, "Though I cannot say much at this stage, I know it will take a lot of skill and focus to play Mithali Raj perfectly."

Pannu has a busy schedule for 2021, with films such as Loooop Lapeta, Haseen Dillruba and Rashmi Rocket in the pipeline.
