Akshay Kumar on Saturday announced that his film Bachchan Pandey, which is being directed by Farhad Samji, will be released on 26 January 2022.
The actor also shared an image of himself in character on social media. The actor, who plays a rugged gangster in the film, looks intimidating in the picture where he can be seen sporting a false eye.
The film was initially scheduled to be released on 25 December 2020. However, it was shifted to the next year following a request from Aamir Khan. However, the pandemic and ensuing lockdown in 2020 forced the cast and crew to postpone the shoot. Filming for the project finally began on 6 January in Jaisalmer.
Reportedly a remake of the Tamil gangster thriller Jigarthanda (2014), the film will also feature Arshad Warsi and Kriti Sanon along with Saharsh Kumar Shukla and Pankaj Tripathi. Akshay will reportedly play the role of a gangster who aspires to be an actor.
The actor has had a busy schedule in the post-lockdown period having wrapped up the shoots for Bell Bottom and Aanand L Rai's upcoming film, Atrangi Re. The actor will also be involved in the Prithviraj shoot.
