Actor Sonu Sood on Friday moved the Supreme Court, challenging the Bombay high court's decision to dismiss his appeal against a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notice concerning alleged illegal constructions at his residential building in Juhu, Mumbai.

According to the news agency PTI, Sood's advocate Vineet Dhanda said the actor had simply challenged the high court's decision.

On 21 January, the Bombay high court dismissed Sood's plea seeking relief from any action by the BMC. However, since the first notice was served by the BMC back in October 2020, the court chose to reject the plea.

Sood had approached the high court after a similar dismissal in a civil court at Dindoshi in Mumbai. Sood has maintained that the constructions in the building, Shakti Sagar, had been undertaken in accordance with Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act.

The BMC sent Sood a notice in October 2020 and followed it up with a complaint at the Juhu police station after an inspection. No first information report (FIR) has been registered in this regard yet.
