International Film Festival of Kerala organizers announce film line-up


The event is being held across four cities in Kerala from February to March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organizers of the 25th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) have announced its line-up of films for 2021.

In a press release, the organizers revealed that out of the 14 films selected in the International Competition section, four are from India. Also, eight films are by first-time directors and two are by women filmmakers.

Mohit Priyadarshi’s Hindi feature Kosa and Akshay Indikar’s Marathi language film Sthalpuran (Chronicle of Space) along with two Malayalam films — Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Churuli and Jayaraj’s Hasyam (Humour) — are a part of the section. 

The international films in the competition section include Mohammad Rasoulof’s Iranian feature There is No Evil, Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese’s This Is Not a Burial, Joao Paulo Miranda Maria’s Memory House, Andrea Martinez Crowther’s Birdwatching and Alejandro Telemaco Tarraf’s Lonely Rock, among others.

The festival has also unveiled the Indian Cinema Now section which includes Ivan Ayr’s Meel Patthar (Milestone), Arun Karthick’s Nasir, Manoj Jahson and Shyam Sunder’s Kuthiraivaal (Horse Tail), Chaitanya Tamhane’s The Disciple, Thamizh’s Seththumaan (Pig), Prithvi Konanur’s Pinki Elli? (Where is Pinki?), and Pushpendra Singh’s Laila Aur Satt Geet (The Shepherdess and The Seven Songs).

The festival is being held across four cities in Kerala from February to March due to the unprecedented conditions created by the pandemic. The festival will be held in Thiruvananthapuram from 10 to 14 February.
