Arati Kadav's upcoming short film, 55 KM/Sec, featuring Richa Chadha, will be released on Disney+ Hotstar and ShortFilmWindow on 20 January. The film was shot on an iPhone during the COVID-19-induced lockdown last year. Kadav directed the high-concept Vikrant Massey-led sci-fi film Cargo (2020) last year.

This was Chadha’s first project since the lockdown began.

In the film, Kadav explores the idea of living in a world stricken by fear. The film, which narrates the story of an asteroid that's about to hit Earth, was earlier released internationally on Amazon Prime Video US and UK.

The poster of the short film focuses on the massive asteroid moving towards the camera. While the first poster had a comic book feel, the latest poster shows the asteroid in all its dark glory.

Speaking of the project, the filmmaker said, “I am thankful to Disney + Hotstar and ShortFilmWindow for showering the film with love. The film is called 55 KM/Sec which is the speed at which the asteroid is making its way to earth. As we’ve all acclimated to the new normal, the short film was a fun exercise. My team and I saw it as work to cheer ourselves up.  Our virtual set was bubbling with new energy. This was a memorable experience for us and I hope the audience showers us with as much love (sic).”

The film will be streamed on both platforms ShortFilmWindow and Disney+ Hotstar from 20 January.
