Shahid Kapoor's sports drama Jersey set for theatrical release on 5 November

Shahid Kapoor's much-awaited sports drama Jersey, the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film of the same name released in 2019, has finally got a release date. The film, also starring Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, will hit cinemas on Diwali, 5 November.
Yesterday, Kapoor took to Instagram to announce the release date with a post that said, "Jersey releasing in theatres this Diwali 5th November 2021. The triumph of the human spirit. A journey I am so very proud of."
Mrunal Thakur shared the same still on Instagram and wrote, "The triumph of the human spirit and a journey unmatchable! Excited for the world to see what we created with love, laughter and unforgettable memories."
Jersey tells the story of a failed cricketer who decides to return to the field in his late thirties to fulfil his son's wish.
The film's shooting, which had to be put on hold in March last year on account of the COVID-19 pandemic was completed in December.
Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had helmed the original film starring Nani, has also directed the remake. The Hindi version is being presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju and S Naga Vamsi.
