The first look of the highly awaited action film Liger, featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, has been released.
The film will be released in multiple languages, marking Karan Johar's Dharma Productions' first foray outside Hindi cinema. The film will be directed by Puri Jagannadh.
The first look features a dishevelled Deverakonda throwing a punch in front of a picture depicting the combined visages of a lion and tiger. The liger is a rare crossbreed that has been genetically created out of the DNA of a lion and a tiger. The actor appears to be playing an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter.
The crossbreed seems to be a reference to both the character and the production venture. Johar hinted at the foray of Dharma Productions into regional languages on 17 January in a tweet saying, "Stories are not bound by languages anymore, their richness is quantified by their entertainment quotient, the places they take you, and the way they make you feel at the core (sic)."
The statement went on to say, "In the past years, we have presented stories that brought a never-seen-before cinematic spectacle to the screens, appealing across regions to enthral one and all...Tomorrow we are adding another chapter in that journey, obliterating linguistic barriers to bring a new age of cinema."
Cinema is set to cross all linguistic barriers to entertain one and all! Big news dropping tomorrow at 10:08am, watch this space for more!! pic.twitter.com/pIaF2iwUbb
