Suman Ghosh’s Aadhaar (2021) takes us back to a time when the seeds of a digital India were just being sowed. Vineet Kumar Singh plays a simple villager whose life is turned upside down when he signs on for the newly introduced Aadhaar card system.

The trailer opens with a bit of comedy, as no one has any clue what Aadhaar does. The village collects thinking film star Salman Khan has turned up. However, once the new system is introduced, no one except for Vineet Kumar Singh's character is interested in signing up.

The story takes a turn when the villager wants to undo his brave step and faces resistance at every step, especially with government officials. Like he did in Mukkabaaz (2018), Vineet Kumar rises to the challenge as a man broken by the system.

The ensemble cast features Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Shukla, Raghubir Yadav, Alka Amin and Ekavali Khanna. The dramedy, co-written by Amitosh Nagpal and Ghosh, had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in 2019 and was also screened at the 21st Mumbai Film Festival.

Aadhaar, produced by Jio Studios and Manish Mundra, is due to be released in theatres on 5 February. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to see the film.
