After a very short teaser that was released a few days ago, the makers of Peter have released the first trailer for the film. The one-and-a-half-minute promo builds on the information we got from the teaser.

Peter tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a 10-year-old boy named Dhanya (Prem Borhade) and his pet goat, which he fondly names Peter.

Dhanya's parents and uncle bring a goat to rear and sacrifice to appease their goddess. But Dhanya soon grows fond of the animal, complicating matters for the family.

Will the boy be able to save his animal friend? Doubtless we will get the answer when the film is released on 22 January. But the trailer has some tearjerker moments.

Child artiste Prem Borhade, who is making his acting debut with this film, looks promising in the few glimpses we get of him in the trailer.

Interestingly, the recent Sandeep Pathak-starrer Idak (2020) had a similar plot where Pathak played a simpleton who befriends a goat that he is supposed to sacrifice to the goddess. The only difference is that Pathak's character was already aware of the fate awaiting his friend.

Peter has been directed by Amol Bhave, who is a well-known sound designer. The film is produced by Bhave, Dipankar Ramteke and Rohandeep Singh under the banner Aanandi Enterprises. Peter will be released in theatres on 22 January. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
