The trailer of Raja Chanda’s upcoming film Magic sees Ankush Hazra in a never-before-seen avatar. There is a strange aura to his character, an illusionist whose past is a complete mystery.
In Magic, Hazra shares the screen with his real-life girlfriend Oindrila Sen for the first time. The film also features Paayel Sarkar, Debshankar Halder and Bidipta Chakraborty.
The film deals with a subject that has not been explored in Bengali cinema in recent times, and its lead character’s sinister look and intention to bamboozle people with riddles are most intriguing.
While Hazra's character speaks of his childhood and discusses his magician father (Halder), the trailer carefully holds back a secret. Also interesting is the far-from-romantic manner in which he speaks to his beloved (Sen). The visuals also hint at sinister undertones to the character, who can be seen enjoying putting his love interest in peril to some extent.
However, the ending of the trailer suggests a surprising twist.
Needless to say, the trailer hints at a romantic thriller with an unpredictable storyline and a lot of dark elements. Though Sen doesn’t seem too promising in her acting debut as Hazra’s naïve and vulnerable partner, the actor has a lot to offer as the complex protagonist of the film.
