Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan has tied up with Unlu, a celebrity engagement portal, to provide mentorship and guidance to budding filmmakers and those who aspire to be film industry professionals through a programme called Unluclass.

“In his Unluclass, Shashank is going to spill the beans on the secret recipe for a perfect industry professional in the field of direction," the company said in a statement. "Besides, he will share a list of dos and don’ts.”

Khaitan has delivered hits such as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) and Dhadak (2018), all three with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

Sharing his excitement about the class, Khaitan said in a statement, “I’m so excited to share my Unluclass with every friend out there who wishes to create their spot in direction. I have a very natural story to myself which includes struggles, pains, empty wallets, but there was one thing that I was always full of — which was my desire to make my dream come true. My classes are going to ignite that desire in you and help create the path for that (sic).”

He continued, “Unfortunately, many of us get deprived of the training that can carve out the best in us. Thanks to Unlu for launching Unluclass where one can learn the tricks of the trade from industry veterans — anywhere, anytime.”

After directing Dhadak, Khaitan ventured into production with films Good Newwz (2019) and Bhoot: The Haunted Ship (2020).

Unlu was founded by Vipul Agrawal, Himanshu Periwal, Akshay Pruthi and Anurag Dalia.

People willing to enrol for the classes will have to pay Rs499 on Unlu's website. They will be able to access Khaitan's online class from 8 February onwards.
