Somnath Awghade, who rose to fame with his portrayal of a Dalit boy in Nagraj Manjule's smashing debut Fandry (2014), is set to return to the silver screen after seven years in Free Hit Danka (2021) where he will be paired opposite Apurva S.
The makers revealed the news by sharing a behind-the-scenes photo of the cast. In the photo, Awghade can be seen holding a cricket bat. Arbaz Shaikh and Tanaji Galgunde, who are also part of the film, are also seen holding bats and stumps. Given the film's title and this photo, it's not far-fetched to assume that cricket will be an important aspect of the film.
Free Hit Danka revolves around a gang of youngsters and their unbreakable friendship.
Interestingly, all these three actors made their acting debut under Nagraj Manjule's direction in Fandry (2014) and Sairat (2016).
The film is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 16 April. Free Hit Danka is being directed by Sunil Magare. He has also written the film's story and screenplay.
The project is being produced by Atul Tarde, Akash Thombre and Meghnath Sorkhade.
