Mahie Gill, Abhay Deol reunite for 1962: The War In The Hills

After the critically acclaimed Dev D (2009), Mahie Gill and Abhay Deol will be seen together again after more than a decade in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Hindi web-series 1962: The War In The Hills. The actress will be playing the role of Deol’s wife. 

Gill said in a statement that 1962: The War In The Hills was a rather special show for her. "There was once a time when I applied to and was selected to be a part of our armed forces. And today, I get to play a pivotal role in a war series, not as a soldier but as a proud army wife,” she said.

The series is based on the India-China war of 1962. It sees Deol play Major Suraj Singh while Akash Thosar will play his subordinate. The show also stars Sumeet Vyas. 

Gill added that she isn’t playing a run-of-the-mill character in the show. “I believe that families who support our jawans [soldiers] through everything are also heroes. My character Shagun is not the typical army wife that’s showcased in movies or shows; she is strong and resilient and is fighting her own personal battles,” she added. 

The show will start streaming from 26 February on Disney+ Hotstar.
