The Girl On The Train trailer: Parineeti Chopra struggles to piece together her memories

Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the film stars Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari and Avinash Tiwary and will be released on Netflix on 26 February.

A woman struggling to piece together her memories, a murdered stranger and a happy family being embroiled in a mystery are among the many elements that come together in the trailer for Ribhu Dasgupta's adaptation of The Girl On The Train. The remake of the 2016 Hollywood mystery will be released on Netflix on 26 February.

Dark and stylishly shot, the trailer begins with a voiceover by the protagonist, Mira Kapoor (Parineeti Chopra), which describes her obsession with a strange woman (Aditi Rao Hydari) she sees while on her daily train commute. When the woman is found dead in Greenwich Forest, Mira is caught in a web of mystery where she cannot trust her own actions. As a sleuth (Kirti Kulhari) digs her way to truth, Mira attempts to figure things out while coping with the death of her husband (Avinash Tiwary).

The trailer is a sharp contrast to the Hollywood one, in that it reveals more than it hides. From the beginning, the linear narrative of the story is already well established. The doubt is already cast on Chopra's Mira Kapoor, as is the obsession with the victim. The trailer lacks the subtlety or red herrings that the original threw the audience's way. This robs it of some of its mystery.

The Girl On The Train will be released on Netflix on 26 February.
