Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has released a new song expressing his gratitude to American pop icon Rihanna after she shed light on the continuing farmers' protests in India on Tuesday.

Titled RiRi, which is Rihanna's nickname, the song was released today on Dosanjh's official YouTube channel and quickly became a hit, garnering over two lakh views in just an hour.

The over-two-minute song, sung by Dosanjh, features lyrics by Raj Ranjodh and music by Intense. The singer also took to Twitter to share his creation with the hashtags #RIRI and #Rihanna.

Dosanjh has been vocal and unwavering in his support to the farmers who have been protesting outside the national capital for more than two months now. The protesters have been demanding that three farm laws introduced by the Indian government be scrapped.

On 2 February, Rihanna's tweet in support of the protest garnered attention. The singer shared a report on the agitation and wrote, "Why aren’t we talking about this? #FarmersProtest."

Hours later, award-winning environmental activist Greta Thunberg, actress and vlogger Amanda Cerny, former porn actress Mia Khalifa and many other international celebrities and delegates also expressed concern about the unfolding situation.
