Shruti Haasan bags lead role in Amazon Prime Video series

The web-series is based on author Ravi Subramanian's book The Bestseller She Wrote.

Shruti Haasan will play the lead role in an upcoming web-series for Amazon Prime Video. The announcement comes just days after the news about her upcoming Telugu film with Prabhas, Salaar.

The web-series is based on a book by a popular Indian author. “The show is inspired by author Ravi Subramanian’s bestseller The Bestseller She Wrote, and Shruti is extremely kicked about the project,” read a statement by Haasan’s publicist.

Haasan’s last film Krack (2021) was released just last month and it managed to do well at the box office despite the COVID-19 scare and 50% occupancy in cinema halls. “Krack, which released a couple of weeks ago, has done great business and is a certified super hit. With Salaar and now the web-series, Shruti is on a professional high,” the statement read.

Salaar will be directed by Prashanth Neel, the director of the keenly-awaited KGF: Chapter 2, which will hit the theatres on 16 July this year.
