Pagglait teaser: Sanya Malhotra struggles to mourn loss of on-screen spouse

The first look of Pagglait (2020) has dropped on lead actress Sanya Malhotra’s birthday on Thursday. The actress plays a young widow, Sandhya, who is unable to grieve for her husband of five months.

As her relatives wonder about her state, Sandhya reveals that, as a child, the death of her pet cat was more shattering. The feature film will focus on Sandhya’s path of self-discovery and she figures out her identity and what to do next.

In a statement, Malhotra said Sandhya was very different from the characters she played before. “My Pagglait journey was Pagglait indeed and I can’t wait for the world to witness this unique story very soon.”

Written and directed by Umesh Bist, Pagglait also stars Sayani Gupta, Shrutii Sharma, Ashutosh Rana, Raghuvir Yadav, Sheeba Chaddha, Meghna Malik and Rajesh Tailang. The film is due to be released on Netflix on 26 March.
