Mumbai police pull up Vivek Oberoi for Valentine's Day gesture

A first information report (FIR) has been registered at the Juhu police station against actor Vivek Oberoi for breaking the mandatory mask rule on Valentine's Day. The actor had taken a bike ride with his wife on February 14.
The actor had shared a snippet of their bike ride on social media, in which both he and his wife are seen wearing neither helmets nor masks.
The video caught the attention of the authorities who pulled up the actor. A challan was registered by police officers at the Santa Cruz police station.
The NDTV channel quoted an official as stating that an FIR was registered against the actor under sections 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant and negligent acts to spread infection of disease dangerous to life respectively. The actor has also booked under Maharashtra Covid-19 Precautionary Measures 2020 and the Motor Vehicles Act.
Oberoi has also been fined Rs500 for not wearing a helmet.
The actor is currently awaiting the completion of his home production, Rosie: The Saffron Chapter, which went on the floors in December 2020. The film is a horror-thriller which will star the actor.
