Sairat actor Akash Thosar will next be seen in the web-series 1962: The War In The Hills on Disney+ Hotstar. Starring Abhay Deol and Sumeet Vyas, the show is based on the infamous Indo-China conflict.
The role means a lot to Thosar as he always wanted to don army fatigues.
“The series 1962: The War in the Hills is a dream project for me! Ever since I was a child, I had a dream of joining the Indian Army and I had also tried taking my tests twice to get selected before getting into the movie industry. Not only an army officer but I also tried to enrol myself in the police services. If I wasn’t an actor, my career was definite to be joining the forces to protect our country (sic),” said the young actor in a statement.
Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the show will see Thosar play a young soldier named Kishan. His character is a part of the battalion led by Major Suraj Singh (Deol).
Recalling the moment when he was offered the role, Thosar said, “The first time I was given the opportunity to play the role of an army soldier, my heart was filled with happiness and pride. If not in real life, I was glad to be wearing the uniform in reel life. Whenever I wore the uniform I felt differently, as if I was actually a part of the army and would look at myself that way.”
Thosar has teamed up with Manjrekar for the second time after the Marathi movie FU: Friendship Unlimited (2017).
