The Vineet Kumar Singh-starrer Aadhaar, which was to be released on 5 February, has been indefinitely postponed.
Amid reports that the film would be put on ice, the film’s director Suman Ghosh confirmed the news last evening, stating that the government's decision to allow cinema halls to operate at 100% capacity was the reason.
“The release of our film Aadhaar has been postponed given recent developments and normalization of the theatrical process post the announcement of the 100 percent occupancy in theatres. We shall update on our new release date soon. Thank you for being with us (sic),” said Ghosh in a Facebook post.

According to some reports, Jio Studios, one of the film's producers, decided to postpone the release of Aadhaar so that it could release bigger projects such as Roohi Afzana, starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, and Mimi, starring Kriti Sanon, first. But there hasn’t been any official announcement on the release of these two films yet.
Manish Mundra of Drishyam Films, one of the producers of Aadhaar, was unavailable for comment.
Aadhaar also stars Raghuvir Yadav, Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Mishra.
