Digpal Lanjekar, who is known for making films on Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has announced his fourth feature film, Sher Shivraj Hai. This time, the filmmaker will focus on the battle of Pratapgarh where the Maratha forces under Shivaji fought valiantly against Adilshahi general Afzal Khan and his troops.

Lanjekar is planning to make eight films dramatizing important junctures in Shivaji Maharaj's life. The first two films in the series — Farzand (2018) and Fatteshikast (2019) — have been released to a warm response from audiences. The third film, Jungjauhar, was scheduled to arrive in theatres last year but its release had to be postponed due to the nationwide lockdown. The makers are planning to release the film soon.
Sher Shivraj Hai will show Shivaji's mostly unexplored side as a master strategist who knew how to play on the insecurities of his enemies. The film will focus on the military genius of Shivaji and his famous guerrilla war tactics.
Lanjekar has finished writing the screenplay and the film will go on the floors soon. The director is known for casting the same actors in diverse roles in each film. Ajay Purkar, who played the role of Motyaji Mama in Farzand, was later cast as Tanaji Malusare in Fatteshikast and will be seen in the role of Baji Prabhu Deshpande in Jungjauhar.
