Filmmaker Krishna Vamsi has apparently approached Janhvi Kapoor to make her Telugu debut in a woman-centric project. While the actress is yet to give her nod, he is believed to have impressed her with his script.
Krishna has initiated talks with Janhvi through her father Boney Kapoor, with whom he worked in Shakti: The Power (2002).
According to the website Cinema Express, Krishna was impressed by Janhvi’s performance Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020). “Krishna Vamsi has finalised a script during the lockdown and will now start the casting process. It's a strong female-oriented story and he wants an established young actor to headline this project. After watching Janhvi's performance in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, he has decided to cast her for the part," a source told the website.
The director believes that his script, as well as his association with Boney, will do the trick, the source reportedly said.
Krishna is currently busy with the Telugu film Ranga Marthanda starring Prakash Raj and Ramya Krishnan. The film is the official remake of the Marathi drama Natsamrat (2016), which starred Nana Patekar.
Originally, the team had planned to retain the title Natsamrat for the remake. However, Krishna felt that Ranga Marthanda, which translates to 'son of the dais' was more fitting.
