Yash Raj Films announced the release dates of films that are to arrive in theatres this year such as the Ranbir Kapoor-led Shamshera, the sequel to Bunty Aur Babli and the period epic Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, on social media on Wednesday.

It was also revealed that Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, would be released on 19 March.

The Dibakar Banerjee film was scheduled to be released on 20 March but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. Speaking in June 2020, Chopra had expressed hope that the film would hit the screens eventually

The month of April will see another pandemic-delayed film, Bunty Aur Babli 2, arrive in theatres. The sequel to the 2005 crime comedy film was scheduled to be released on 26 June 2020. Featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Saif Ali Khan and Sharvari Wagh, the film will now be released on 23 April. The film is being directed by Varun V Sharma.

Another big reveal is the release date of the Ranbir Kapoor-led Shamshera. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film marks Kapoor's first foray into the historical epic genre. Announced in 2018, the film was speculated to be released in July 2020. However, the pandemic and delays have forced the production house to release the film on 25 June. The makers resumed shooting for the film back in August 2020, with Dutt joining the sets in September last year.

Ranveer Singh's Jayeshbhai Jordaar is now set to be released in theatres on 27 August. The film, directed by Divyang Thakkar, will star Singh opposite Shalini Reddy. The film was scheduled to be released in October 2020, after the lockdown.

Prithviraj is set to hit the screens during the Diwali on 5 November 2021. The film, based on the legendary romance of king Prithviraj and queen Sanyogita, will be directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The film was scheduled for a Diwali release in 2020.

The film will clash with Shahid Kapoor's remake of the Telugu hit Jersey as well as Akshay Kumar's own Raksha Bandhan. The latter film, directed by Aanand L Rai, was announced in August 2020 in the middle of the first lockdown.
