The Wife to be premiered on Zee5 on 19 March 

Zee Studios has unveiled the release date of its upcoming horror film The Wife: Till Death Do Us Part. The film, which stars Gurmeet Choudhary and newcomer Sayani Datta, will be premiered on Zee5 on 19 March. The film was previously scheduled to be released on 30 October last year.

Written and directed by newcomer Sarmad Khan, the film tells a story of a married couple who, after moving into their new apartment, see their life unravelling in the most horrific ways due to the presence of a malevolent spirit.

Speaking about the film and his character, Chaudhary said in a statement, "This is my first solo lead and you'll get to see me in a whole new and different avatar in this film. The script is so fresh, you'll find the movie to be a perfect amalgamation of spine-chilling horror, action, romance, drama, and everything that you'd expect and more. I am happy to be associated with the Zee Team and extremely excited for the film to launch for our audience to see for themselves that it's one of a kind."

Datta said she was a huge fan of the horror genre. "The entire experience of being a part of such a wonderful film has been a very fulfilling one indeed,” she said.

Khan is confident that unlike other films of this genre, The Wife will keep the audience guessing till the very end. "What makes The Wife unique is its urban setting and its matter-of-fact approach in presenting supernatural events as never seen before on the screen. And I think what the audience will like the most is the unconventionality of this film. Most horror stories tragically are quite predictable, but with this film, you can't know anything for sure till you’ve arrived at the end of it," he added.

The horror film went on the floors on 1 March last year but was stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By then, 60% of the film had been completed. Shooting finally concluded in August.
