The teaser of Aditya Sarpotdar's Zombivli encapsulates the surrealness of a zombie outbreak, the fear of walking among the infected, and the thrill of a new experiment in Marathi cinema. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Amey Wagh, Vaidehi Parshurami, Trupti Khamkar and Lalit Prabhakar, the film will be released on 30 April.

The teaser begins with a power outage across the city, which occurs while a young man tells the story of how a random old man on the street attacked him. Wagh's outrageous explanation is met with incredulity by a police inspector, who wonders how can zombies be real. But real they are, and we see snippets of disfigured bodies moving and seeking out human flesh.

The teaser is put together with style and has several interesting shots. The production values of the film look impressive. Despite the horror theme, there is a tone of sarcasm and humour running through the teaser. With a cast that includes Wagh, Khamkar and Prabhakar, laughs are a given. What is a pleasant surprise though is the effectiveness of the zombies in the teaser. Considering this is Marathi cinema's first zombie film, it deserves some praise.

Shot during the lockdown, with precautions, the film has been produced by Yoodlee Films.
