The fourth and final shooting schedule of the much-anticipated sports drama Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn, is all set to begin tomorrow.
With 65% of the film already shot, director Amit Ravindernath Sharma plans to now shoot non-stop till the end of April and complete the film.
Devgn, who was busy shooting for his second directorial venture Mayday (2022), will join the shoot tomorrow. After finishing his part, he will rejoin the team on 10 March at Madh near Mumbai where the shooting of the football sequences is scheduled to take place.
The choreography for the football sequences and the physical conditioning camp for the artistes has been going on for the past two months. The VFX of the film has been going on throughout the lockdown period in London, Los Angeles and Canada.
Maidaan is a biopic of Syed Abdul Rahim, independent India's first national football coach. Rahim led India to the inaugural Asian Games gold medal in New Delhi 1951 and again at the Jakarta Asian Games in 1962. He also coached the team to the semi-finals of the soccer competition at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, which remains India's best performance at a global football event.
Directed by the filmmaker who made the popular hit Badhaai Ho (2018), Maidaan also features National award-winning actress Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and well-known Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh.
Produced by Boney Kapoor and Akash Chawla's FreshLime Films, the film is due to be released on 15 October 2021 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
