Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s web-series Human stars wife Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari. The show is a medical thriller that is being co-directed by writer Mozez Singh and producer Shah. It is the producer-director’s first web-series and went on the floor last month.
The web-series was conceived after Shah felt that he should make something in the medical space three-and-a-half years ago. He shared the thought with Mozez Singh who came up with the complete story a few months later.
“When I heard it, I knew this had the potential to be something different and path-breaking,” said Shah in a statement. “Then Mozez put together and ran the writers' room and the team wrote diligently all through 2020. It was a complex task as the show had to be written in a way that would make sense to the audience.”
He said the writers did a "great job" of putting it all together and making the world of drug trials edgy, entertaining and relatable. "This is a very important subject for society and we wanted to ensure that we present it with all its sensitivities and complexities intact," he said. "As a team, we have all been deeply involved in getting the story right.”
Human has brought Shah back to his early days in theatre. “Human is my dream project," he said. "I used to do this kind of stuff in theatre, and with Human I am connecting back to my roots. It’s a first for me in the digital space and it’s the complete opposite of what I have done in 20 years of my Hindi film career.”
Shah believes the project is novel for both lead actresses. “It’s a new space for both Shefali and Kirti," he said. "You haven’t seen them do something like this before."
Produced by Shah’s Sunshine Pictures, Human will be released later this year.
