After the success of Scam 1992-The Harshad Mehta Story, Applause Entertainment has decided to back another biographical series on the life of a controversial businessman, Ramalinga Raju. Based on the book by Kingshuk Nag, The Double Life of Ramalinga Raju, the series will be helmed by Nagesh Kukunoor.

Ramalinga Raju founded Satyam Computer Services, and later Satyam Infoway, before being convicted of corporate fraud in 2015 to the tune of Rs7136 crore. He is currently out on bail.

According to a press release, the series will be streamed on SonyLiv's OTT platform. Applause Entertainment's earlier series, Scam 1992, also streamed on the same platform.

The press release stated, "The story of Ramalinga Raju’s unbridled ambition makes for an engaging tale as it focuses on his endeavour to make Satyam Computer Services, the most successful IT company in India eventually leading to its sudden collapse."

Incidentally, the life of Ramalinga Raju is already part of Netflix's series, Bad Boy Billionaires, along with Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and Subrata Roy were among the personalities that the series focussed on.

The Double Life of Ramalinga Raju was released in 2012. Nag was among the key correspondents who followed the story of Satyam in Andhra Pradesh.

This will be Kukunoor's first series since The Test Case featuring Nimrat Kaur. The director has recently wrapped up work on Good Luck Sakhi, starring Keerthy Suresh last year.
