The first look poster of Arjunn Dutta’s upcoming film Srimati suggests that the director has developed yet another women-centric film. Starring Swastika Mukherjee, the film features Soham Chakraborty, Trina Saha, Barkha Bisht and Kheya Chattopadhyay.

Srimati will revolve around characters that one comes across every day. Speaking to the Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika, Dutta said, “These days we are often in a rush to prove something as we put up an image of our life and actions. My film, on the other hand, will tell the story of self-exploration amidst the tendency to seeking validation.”

The poster oozes energy and positivity. While Mukherjee seems to be playing a simple housewife, who is neither afraid to speak her mind nor be imposing, Saha will essay the role of Brishti, a sweet-natured lively girl.

Chakraborty, on the other hand, will play the husband of Mukherjee. Dutta said he had picked Chakraborty for the role.

“A lot of people were surprised to see Soham and Mukherjee have been cast as a couple. I believe Soham is a good actor and for the first time, he will be seen in a completely different avatar. He suits the character perfectly,” added Dutta.

Bisht, who is returning to Bengali cinema after Black (2015) will be seen as an intelligent and confident entrepreneur in Srimati while Chattopadhyay will play a maid in the film.
