French filmmaker Pierre Filmon to be conferred Honorary Award for Excellence for Contribution in International Cinema

The Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) has announced that French writer and filmmaker Pierre Filmon will be conferred the Honorary Award for Excellence for Contribution in International Cinema at RIFF 2021. The festival director and founder, Somendra Harsh, announced the award.

Filmon has made four short films which have been screened in 50 film festivals, and his documentary Close Encounters With Vilmos Zsigmond was the official selection at Cannes in 2016. His latest feature Long Time No See has been selected in 22 international film festivals, including the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The film will be screened at the 7th Rajasthan International Film Festival 2021 and is scheduled to be released this year in France.

A long-standing member of the Cinemathèque Française, Filmon graduated in screenwriting from La Femis and has worked with Academy Award winner Budd Schulberg on the screenplay for A Dream Last Night. He served as a jury member at the Vilmos Zsigmond Film Festival in Széged (Hungary), The Documentary Festival in Valenciennes (France), and the Cannes Film Festival for the Volcano Prize of the Official Competition in 2017.

The 7th edition of RIFF will be held from 20 to 24 March 2021 in a hybrid format in Jaipur and Jodhpur. The theme for this years’ festival is Music in Cinema.
