Veteran television and film actor Indrajit Deb dies at 73


The actor had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney-related ailments.

Veteran television and film actor Indrajit Deb died due to cardiac arrest at his Kolkata residence on Saturday morning. He was 73.

The actor, who was known for his performance in critically acclaimed Bengali television series Tero Parbon (1987), had been suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney-related ailments.

Deb lost his wife to cancer a year back and did not have any children. He was living with his brother for the past year.

Mostly known for his performances his television series Utsaber Ratri and Satyajiter Goppo (1999), Deb also appeared in a few films such as Kato Bhalobasa (1992), Premi (1993), Sujan Sakhi (1995), Bipin Choudhurir Smritibhram (2012), and Generation Aami (2018). He was also a familiar face in telefilms such as Sheyal Debota Rahasya (1996), Joto Kando Kathmandute (1996), Bosepukure Khunkharapi (1996) and Jahangirer Swarnamudra (1998).

His performance in the ongoing television series Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni has garnered acclaim.

Actress Sudiptaa Chakraborty mourned the actor’s death and shared anecdotes of her childhood interactions with Deb on Facebook on Saturday morning.
