The Screenwriters' Association (SWA) has shortlisted 30 names out of a total 601 entries to progress into the next round of its first-ever annual script lab for feature films.
The entries in the lab, announced in January this year, are being mentored by directors Vikramaditya Motwane, Sujoy Ghosh, Alankrita Shrivastava, Abhishek Chaubey, Sudip Sharma and Smita Singh.
The entries were scanned and shortlisted by 12 SWA writers, who then submitted the shortlisted names for the next stage. All 601 participants were informed about their selection or non-selection by email on 2 December 2021.
The shortlisted members will now present their entire feature-length script before 10 January 2022. The scripts have to be between 70 and 120 pages long and will be vetted again by the SWA team. Six names will then be chosen to each be personally mentored online by four out of the six directors.
SWA’s endeavour is to help the writers understand the scope of improvement in their own script/writing with these sessions, while also presenting them an opportunity to connect with these mentors.
