In the trailer for Srimanta Sengupta’s upcoming film Abar Bochhor Koori Pore (2021), four friends relive their childhood days at a reunion after 20 years. While the flashbacks invoke nostalgia with the depiction of teenage friendship from the 1990s, the visuals from the present highlight how the complications of adult life make it difficult to maintain the most innocent and spontaneous bond of yesteryears.
Dutta (Rudranil Ghosh) calls up Arun (Abir Chatterjee) to invite him for a reunion of their school batch from 1997. Arun initially refuses to join because of his hectic schedule, but a sentimental Dutta ignites the desire in him to relive the days that they have left 20 years behind.
Bonnie (Arpita Chatterjee) has her own reasons to avoid the meeting as she feels a reunion will bring to the surface some old complications between them. Nila (Tnusree Chakraborty) has no time from her domestic routine. But Dutta’s continuous persuasion makes the friends gradually restless and they eventually get together.
The back story of their cherished friendship not only presents memories of shared experiences that many of us are familiar with, but also shows what led to their separation and eventually became the reasons for their hesitancy to meet despite having been close friends.
The glimpses of renewed passion, reminiscences of heartbreaks and crazy aspirations to maintain the friendship at any cost drive the narrative of Abar Bochhor Koori Pore. The actors representing the friends’ teenage avatars bring a freshness to the screen in contrast to the complicated equations of the friends in the present time.
Abar Bochhor Koori Pore is slated for a theatrical release on 14 January 2022. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this film.
