The first shooting schedule of the Hindi remake of the cult Tamil hit Vikram Vedha (2017) with star Hrithik Roshan has been wrapped up in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The first photo from the shoot shows the actor speaking with directors Pushkar and Gayathri afterwards.

Co-produced by T-Series and Reliance Entertainment in association with Friday Filmworks & S Sashikanth’s YNOT Studios, the action-packed thriller saw its first filming schedule completed in 27 days. The second schedule featuring Hrithik’s co-star Saif Ali Khan now begins in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

Besides Hrithik and Saif Ali Khan, the remake stars Radhika Apte in a pivotal role. Actor Sharib Hashmi is also part of the cast.

The Tamil original, inspired by the folk tale of Vikram Aur Betaal (King Vikram and the Vampire), featured actor R Madhavan as police officer Vikram who wants to nab gangster Vedha (Vijay Sethupathi). Vedha takes Vikram by surprise when he turns himself in. The gangster then narrates three stories to the police officer which alter his view of Vedha and his motivation.

Directors Pushkar and Gayathri, who wrote and helmed the original, said, “We are delighted to be working with Hrithik and Saif, two great actors. With a superb team around us, we hope to deliver a film that will be intense and exciting.”

T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar added, “Vikram Vedha promises to be one of the most thrilling and entertaining films of the year. The announcement itself has sparked a great deal of interest in the audience. We are ecstatic to reunite this dynamic duo after two decades on the big screen. We cannot wait for Vikram Vedha to work its magic in the theatres and become a box-office hit.”

Hrithik and Saif Ali Khan had previously co-starred in Na Tum Jaano Na Hum (2002) with Esha Deol.

Producer Sashikanth said, “After having produced the original version in Tamil four years ago, we are excited to see how Vikram Vedha has been shaping up in Hindi with Hrithik and Saif pushing the boundaries and taking this story to a global audience.”

Vikram Vedha is slated to be released worldwide in theatres on 30 September 2022.
