Rocket Boys' latest teaser pays tribute to one of the heroes of the series — and the nation — Vikram Sarabhai. The makers released the clip on the 50th death anniversary of the late physicist and astronomer, whose pioneering efforts were pivotal to India's space dreams. The series, directed by Abhay Pannu, will be streamed on SonyLiv in 2022.

The teaser reveals the early sprouts of India's space exploration programme, and how it began as an attempt to improve telecommunications. It also depicts the romance between a young Vikram Sarabhai (Ishwak Singh) and Mrinalini Sarabhai (Regina Cassandra) as the young physicist promises to put India in outer space.

A key founder of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Sarabhai, who is regarded as the father of India's space programme, was instrumental in putting an indigenous satellite in orbit. The struggle behind these efforts come to the fore in the teaser, which showcases the unremarkable conditions in which a newly independent India's first space programme began. Yet, it is the relentless optimism of the young scientist which stands out.

"The sky is not the limit," he says, "But the beginning."

The teaser is quite similar to the one released by the makers on the birth anniversary of Dr Homi Bhabha, a key member of India's nuclear programme. The scientist is played by actor Jim Sarbh in the series.

The series has been produced by Roy Kapur Films and Emmay Entertainment.

Check out the teaser and let us know if you are keen on watching the series.
