There have been various reports claiming that Shah Rukh Khan will make a cameo in the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra. The film’s producer Karan Johar has confirmed the stories while expressing gratitude towards the big names from the industry who have come out to help him with this film.
“Shah Rukh has done a massive cameo for us. We thought it would be five days [but] he shot for 15. And without a question asked. He saw the vision of his sequence. [Also] Nag sir [Nagarjuna], Mr [Amitabh] Bachchan. It became like, this is not just my film, it’s our film. It’s everyone’s film. You can stake ownership on it (sic),” said Johar while speaking at the producers’ round table with journalist Anupama Chopra for the platform Film Companion.
While expressing how director Ayan Mukerji has toiled for this film, Johar added, “There’s a boy who has worked for seven years, every day of his life. Literally, I have seen it with my own eyes; blood, sweat and tears. Every day that boy has relentlessly just worked on this movie [and] discovered so much. I have just seen his passion.”
Johar also shared a humorous piece of trivia related to the casting of Alia Bhatt. “Alia grew up with Brahmastra,” he said. “When she signed the film, she was 21 years old. She is 28 today. She is going to be 29 when the film releases. She literally grew up in cinema; from a newbie to a veteran actress now.”
The filmmaker is eager for the audience to come in large numbers to see the film, which has been in the making for so long. “The producers’ list is large. The actors’ list is larger. It’s like we are all just like part of this one big mega film that just needs the world to watch it. So we want every centre in this country and world to come out and watch Brahmastra. We don’t need it for money; we need it to validate those seven years,” he said.
Brahmastra is scheduled to be released on 9 September 2022.
