Abhishek Banerjee makes his Telugu debut with Highway; see poster

After establishing himself in Hindi films and web-series, Abhishek Banerjee is now making his debut in another language. The casting director-turned-actor will be seen alongside Anand Deverakonda, Saiyami Kher and Manasa Radhakrishnan in KV Guhan’s upcoming Telugu film Highway (2022).

The newly released posters for the film shows the faces of the four cast members embedded in a silhouette of a man holding a weapon, quite like Banerjee’s breakout role as Hathoda Tyagi in the Amazon Prime Video web-series Paatal Lok (2020). The blood on the poster indicates violence.

The actor, who is also filming for the web-series The Great Weddings Of Munnes with Barkha Singh, insisted that this new role will be different from his now iconic Hathoda Tyagi.

Banerjee said, “Highway is a psychological crime thriller with a refreshing story. It is a special film for me, as it's my first Telugu project. It was a different experience shooting for this one. As for my fans, they will see me in a very different role in Highway.”

The release date for Highway is yet to be announced; the team wrapped up filming in October. Malayalam actress Manasa Radhakrishnan is also making her Telugu debut with this film. Kher has previously acted in the films Rey (2015) and Wild Dog (2021).
