Taapsee Pannu-starrer Shabaash Mithu to be released on 4 February 2022

Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee Pannu as Indian cricket star Mithali Raj, is due to be released on 4 February 2022. The announcement was made on the cricketer's birthday today.

The sports drama goes up against Badhaai Do (2022), starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.

Srijit Mukherji, who took over the directorial reins from Rahul Dholakia in June, announced the film’s release date while wishing the record-setting player.

The film was due to be released on 5 February this year before the pandemic affected its shooting schedule.

The cast and crew wrapped the feature at the Lord’s cricket ground in London, England, earlier last month. However, there is no new look from the film as yet.

Mithali Raj, who is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket, recently received the Khel Ratna award for her contribution to the sport. The cricketer also wished the team of the film luck for the upcoming release.

Written by Priya Aven, the biopic is produced by Viacom18 Studios. The film, which co-stars Vijay Raaz and Sampa Mandal, has been scored by Amit Trivedi, with lyrics by Swanand Kirkire and Kausar Munir.
