SS Rajamouli, who is busy promoting his upcoming film RRR (2022), has opened up about his dream project, which is based on the Mahabharata, in interviews.

In an interview with India TV, Ram Charan asked Rajamouli if he would cast him and his RRR co-star Jr NTR for the Mahabharata project.

Rajamouli replied that he would put his own spin on the original epic and would get to the casting part only after he finishes writing the script.

“The characters that I write for my Mahabharata will not be the same as you’ve seen or read before. I will tell Mahabharata in my own way. The Mahabharata (story) will be the same, but the characters will be enhanced and the inter-relationships between the characters will be added,” Rajamouli said.

He added, "I know people have made lists of who should play whom in the project. But I will decide my characters only after I write my version of Mahabharata."

RRR will be released worldwide on 7 January 2022. The film is a  fictional story set in the 1920s and is based on the lives of two renowned revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.

The film, which will be dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani and Shriya Saran.
