The trailer for Fahadh Faasil's upcoming survival drama Malayankunju depicts the actor as Anurudhan, a struggling electrician who is constantly annoyed by his family members and the next door baby's wailing.

The trailer does not reveal much about the plot, but there are hints that the main character is a socially awkward person who doesn't like to mingle with people too much. He is also not on good terms with his mother who bought gold with his hard-earned money without his knowledge. Rajisha Vijayan, Indrans, Jaffer Idukki and Deepak Parambol make brief appearances.

However the trailer changes gear midway and turns into a survival thriller when Fahadh's character gets trapped in a tunnel after a landslide caused by a heavy downpour,

The trailer does a good job of indicating the film's tone and suggests that the narrative will be as realistic as possible. Fahadh, as always, looks perfect in the role of a man who is dealing with multiple problems at the same time.

Malayankunju is the maiden directorial venture of Sajimon Prabhakar, who has worked as an assistant director in the movie Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 (2019).

The film marks AR Rahman's return to Malayalam cinema after 29 years.

Meanwhile, renowned filmmaker-editor Mahesh Narayanan who has teamed up with Fahadh for multiple projects has penned the script for the film, which also marks his debut as cinematographer.

Malayankunju is slated to be released in February 2022. The makers are yet to announce the release date.
