Chennai International Film Festival to be held from 30 December to 6 January


The event's organizers will showcase 121 films from 53 countries this year.

The 19th edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF), will be held from 30 December to 6 January. Organized by the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF), a Chennai-based non-profit organization working for the promotion of parallel and non-commercial cinema, the festival will showcase 121 films from 53 countries this year.

The opening film is the Palme d’Or nominee at the recent Cannes Film Festival Three Floors by Nanni Moretti and the closing film is the winner of the San Sebastián International Film Festival 2021, Vortex by Gaspar Noé. There will also be a special screening of Dikkatra Parvathi by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao.

For the first time, films from Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Qatar, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Latvia, Hungary, Uruguay, Haiti, France, Afghanistan and Australia will be screened at CIFF. In addition, six masterclass sessions with eminent personalities from the film industry will be conducted by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.   

CIFF will also screen films that won at the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival, as well as some of the Oscar nominations and selections.

The films will be screened at the PVR Multiplex (formerly Sathyam Cinemas), Anna Theater in Chennai.
