Indian actor Adarsh Gourav has found a place on the list of international breakout stars of 2021 brought out by Variety magazine. He finds himself among various newcomers from around the world.

Adarsh first came on the scene when he played the younger Shah Rukh Khan in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan (2010). He was later seen in the Sridevi-starrer Mom (2017) and Deepa Mehta’s Netflix web-series Leila

But Adarsh shot to fame this year with his acclaimed performance in Ramin Bahrani’s international movie The White Tiger (2021), which also starred Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rajkummar Rao.

According to the Variety entry, “His central performance as a scheming, social-climbing driver earned him BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), AACTA (Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts) and Independent Film Awards nominations. Gourav is now on his way to both Bollywood and international fame, signing plum roles in Farhan and Zoya Akhtar’s Ko Gaye Hum Kahan and Scott Z. Burns’ anthology Extrapolations.”

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan also stars Siddharth Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.

The list also features Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon. She will be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming spy thriller Khufiya, which also stars Tabu and Ali Fazal.
